Direct Part Marking (DPM) Readers

Direct Part Marking (DPM) readers are designed for use on the manufacturing shop floor, in the plant, warehouse or distribution center. With the ability to read ALL 1D and 2D codes, these DPM readers give users the scanning confidence that is required in today’s fast-paced manufacturing environments. Along with reading superiority over expensive camera systems, these DPM readers offer reliability, superior performance and user-friendly ergonomics to improve productivity. Freedom offers DPM readers that have 802.11 wireless capability as well.

Unique Identification (UID) Readers

Freedom Technologies offers Unique Identification (UID) readers to all military suppliers that need to read UID markings. Direct Part Mark readers are available in handheld and 802.11 versions and are designed for use on the manufacturing shop floor, plant, warehouse or distribution center. The UID readers not only read UID Direct Part Markings, but also read all 1D and 2D bar codes as well.

Shop Floor Industrial Printers

Thermal transfer printers are specifically designed to print barcodes using heat to transfer ink from a ribbon to a label. Ribbons consist of an array of wax/resin combinations to meet all indoor and outdoor conditions. Available print media ranges from simple coated paper to heavy-duty synthetics. The industrial class of printers vary from the all-plastic "occasional" models on up to all-metal work-horses, designed to print barcode labels, high speed applications, unique forms, ticketing/tagging, etc., 24 hours a day.

Barcode Scanners

A variety of data collection scanners are available on the market to meet any application. The products range from hand-held devices, both wired and wireless, to fixed mount scanners. Connectivity can be USB, RS232/485/422, Ethernet, DeviceNet, laser out, wand emulation, or keyboard emulation. Hand held scanners come in a variety of technologies such as wands, CCD's, Laser, and Image Capture.

Vision Inspection Systems

Smart camera reader vision systems inspect, identify, and verify products on manufacturing production lines. They combine advanced machine vision with automatic identification technology. Direct Part Marking

Direct part marking is any method of directly marking the part surface with a serial number, part number and / or machine-readable data matrix code to create product identification.

Ink Jet

Small and large character ink-jet printing systems support customers with unlimited message formats including graphics, text, date and batch codes in a variety of font styles and sizes to complement their products. The permanence of the mark is dependent on the chemical interaction of the ink and part surface.


Dot-Peen is a unique method of marking featuring a pneumatic or electric driven marking head with single pin stylus that can be stand-alone or fully integrated with host computer systems. Machines have capability of creating alphanumeric text, 2D machine-readable codes, symbols, logos or virtually any other type of mark. An extensive range of materials can be marked, including plastic, glass, leather, paper, wood, expanded polystyrene, and most metals.


Laser marking is a non-contact thermal process where the heat generated by the beam alters the surface of the part. Applications range from surface etching to deep marking of hardened materials. Laser marks are indestructible in most cases and withstand many post-processing applications. They also provide permanent marking for virtually any surface and material and yield cradle-to-grave traceability.

Touch Screen Terminals

Touch screen terminals are available in both flat panel and CRT versions. They're produced in a wide variety of product families, sizes, shapes, and surface treatments to accommodate virtually any application and environment. They are widely used in industrial, medical, and point-of-sale applications. When activated with a finger, hand, or object such as a credit card, the touch screen delivers a fast, accurate response every time. It typically is impervious to environmental conditions such as liquid spills and splashes, humidity, and wash-down.

Weigh Scales

Scales and weighing systems are used in a wide variety of diverse industries and markets, including automotive, industrial, pharma, food, chemical, material handling, medical, transport & logistic, process control and OEM. Weigh Scales provide data collection in the areas of raw material (incoming goods, inspection), production, and packaging. Individual applications include check weighing, batching, filling, statistical process & quality control.

RF Devices

Secure RF networking products include access points, numerous RF antenna options, network management software & hardware that simplifies network management, improves network security & system reliability, and increases the ROI of your data collection network. 802.11 Access Points provide industry standard wireless local area network connectivity anywhere it is required. Access points provide Ethernet connectivity to 802.11 wireless equipped client computers. Wireless bridges extend the network backbone beyond the reach of the Ethernet cabling.


An RFID system consists of a tag (transponder) and a reader (interrogator). The technology of RFID deals with the remote collection of information stored on a tag using radio frequency communications. Stored information can range from a simple identification number, to kilobytes of data, including dynamic information, written to and read from the tag. The information from the tag / reader combination is either presented to a human operator typically using a hand-held device with an alphanumeric display or a host computer which automatically manages the information.

RS 232 Devices

The RS (Recommended Standard) serial port is an I/O (Input/output) device. An I/O device is just a way to get data into and out of a computer. There are many types of I/O devices such as USB ports, serial ports, parallel ports, disk drive controllers, Ethernet boards, universal serial buses, etc. Each serial port has a 9-pin connector (sometimes 25-pin) and computer programs can send data (bytes) to the transmit pin (output) and receive bytes from the receive pin (input). The other pins are for control purposes and ground. The serial port is much more than just a connector. It converts the data from parallel to serial and changes the electrical representation.

TCP/IP Devices

TCP /IP devices are utilized to enable computers, printers, and other network components to interact with certain serial devices, such as scales, telephone systems, readers, point-of-sale devices, etc. In the past, many of these devices were connected using statistical multiplexes, over dedicated phone lines, and now are being replaced with TCP/IP network equipment, routers, switches, and hubs.

OPC Device Support for PLC's

OPC is a specification or set of written rules and procedures for the way multiple software programs can talk to each other. OPC came about due to software developers, along with users, recognizing the need to begin to standardize how their applications worked together to reduce integration costs for software used in the manufacturing automation / process control industry.
